Dregs of Rudetown by Chris Barker tells of Dregs and his friend Dave as they come of age in the 1990s – a time before mobile phones, an era of landlines, indie discos, raves, fruit machines, and Permits to Travel.

About 20 years ago, Chris turned up at a festival and showed us a few pages of this comic he’d dreamt up with his friend Cain. The comic was good, very good. But also very short. Chris said it’d taken forever to draw, so the rest of the comic would probably never see the light of day. And that, I’d assumed was that.

…Until a few months ago, when new strips featuring Dregs and Dave started appearing on Chris’s twitter account. The drawings were sharper, the jokes better, or was that just nostalgia? (No, it really is much better than the original).

Chris asked me whether I’d be interested in publishing it, and I jumped at the opportunity. One successful Kickstarter campaign later, and here we are.
